Dear South Australians,
To those of you who are embarked on the worthy enterprise of re-establishing a
South Australian Federation of Film Societies, best wishes and heartfelt
encouragement from the New South Wales Federation of Film Societies!
It seems that it was really not so long ago that there was a very enthusiastic
executive committee of a South Australian Federation. Unfortunately, a perfect
storm of career opportunities and/or promotions offered in other Australian
states resulted in the young adult members of that very enthusiastic committee
leaving South Australia, and so the South Australian Federation foundered.
The New South Wales Federation hopes that a South Australian Federation will
be able to offer much-needed local support to the film society movement in
South Australia. We hope that effective succession planning will result in there
always being someone to step up to take the place of anyone whose personal
circumstances force them to leave the executive committee of the South
Australian Federation of Film Societies.
May the South Australian Federation of Film Societies set down deep roots it its
(I hope) growing local community of South Australian film societies, and long
prosper!
